The two largest luxury car manufacturer of the world Mercedes-Benz and BMW is subjected to a face-off with Mercedes-Benz E Class and BMW 5 Series. The 5-Series marks entry in d+ segment of luxury cars. It is available five variants. While the upgraded model of Mercedes-Benz E-Class is available in three variant- E200 CGI, E250 CDI and E250 CDI.


BMW 5 Series is available in petrol and diesel variant. The petrol variant is built with 1997cc; 6-cylinder engine which generates maximum power of 158PS@ 5800 RPM and torque of 246Nm@ 4000 RPM on the other hand the BMW 5 Series Diesel is built with 2993cc, 6 cylinder diesel engines producing maximum power of 190PS@ 6500 RPM and torque of 300Nm@ 2400 RPM.  The sedan can attain a top speed of 248KMPH. It is mated with 8-gear automatic transmission.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class is available in two diesels and two petrol variant.  Under the hood of E-Class Diesel has a BI TURBO V8 engine of 2,143cc. it delivers maximum output of 204PS@ 4200 RPM and torque of 369Nm@ 1600 RPM while the petrol variant is built with 1991cc, 2.0L, 4-cylinder mill petrol engine which churns out maximum power of 186Ps@ 5500 RPM and torque of 300Nm@ 1400 RPM. The sedan can touch the mark of 100 KMPH in just 7.5 sec while attaining a top speed of 196KMPH. E-Class has 7-gear automatic transmission.


BMW 5 Series petrol variant maintains a decent mileage 10KMPL while the diesel model maintains a fuel efficiency of 12 KMPL on the other hand Mercedes- Benz E-Class delivers an astounding mileage of 22KMPL with diesel and 18.6kmpl with petrol engine.


Standard safety features like ABS (Anti Lock Braking System), all-round Airbags with front and rear seat belts, EBD, central locking, child lock and engine Immobilizer is installed in both the sedans.


Mercedes-Benz E-Class is available in variety of paint jobs like Tanzanite Blue, Obsidian Black Metallic, Indium Grey Metallic, and up rite Brown Metallic.

BMW 5 series is available in Titanium Silver, Alpine White, Havana, Sophist Grey, Deep Sea Blue, Cashmere Silver and Space Grey.


BMW 5 series price is of 41.5-58.0 lakhs while Mercedes- Benz E-Class price is of 41.5-49 lakhs.


Mercedes- Benz E-Class offers more power and fuel efficiency than BMW 5 Series. The base end trim of both the sedans are priced equally while the top end trim of Mercedes- Benz E-Class is more expensive than BMW 5 Series.
