Mahindra & Mahindra Motors is one of the biggest home grown automobiles production houses in the country. Scorpio is one of the most popular and successful product of the company. Scorpio was first launched in 2002. It is still on the list of 20 best selling cars in the country. In May’13 Scorpio has sold 513units. Its high sales are a clear indication that time has not faded its charm.

Tata Safari is the most renown and successful home- grown SUV. A new upgraded facelift model of SUV Safari Storm was launched recently. Safari stands as a symbol of power and muscularity.


Scorpio is available only in diesel variant. The latest model of Scorpio is Getaway which is powered by a 2609cc, SZ CRDe, Turbo charged, 4 strokes, DI Engine. The engine is capable of producing maximum power of 116PS@3800RPM and torque of 277Nm@1700RPM. The engine generates amazing mileage of 13 KMPL on highway and 9KMPL in city.

The new Safari Storme is built with  2.2L, 2179cc, DOHC VTT varicor diesel engine this produces maximum output of 140Ps @ 4500 RPM and torque of 320Nm@ 2700 RPM. The SUV attain a top speed of 180KMPH and also accelerate to 0- 100 KMPH in just 3.5 sec and comes with a 5-gear manual transmission. It maintains a good mileage of 14 KMPL.


Its looks have attracted young as well as old people. The new body graphics on front makes Scorpio look sportier while the high intensity beetle shaped headlamps with new shiny fog lamps give the SUV atypical rugged character.  The side profile is been treated with sporty decals graphics that adds to sporty look of SUV. The Mahindra Scorpio has a boot space of 460L to carry the luggage of passengers.

Tata Safari has been a symbol of masculinity and power. The newer version has received some brilliant cosmetic enhancements in the form of chrome tipped front grill and clear headlamps unit, wide stance, Triangular shaped fog lamps and front skid at the front fascia imparting a bold and sporty appearance. The rear end receives most of the enhancements with large tail lamps and sporty spoiler installed.


The interior of Scorpio is spacious enough to accommodate 7 passengers comfortably. The rich and elegant interior is fashioned with plush dual tone interior cabin draped in rich fabric. Black Allure/ classy Tan&Beige upholstery is given. “Body Pressure Mapping” is done on seats to maximize the comfort. Individual armrest is present for front seat to provide maximum comfort.

The interior of Safari Storme is spacious and luxurious. The adjustable front and rear seats provide ample leg room, chrome finished interior looks impressive while leather cover upholstery give luxurious feel. The top end trim features Sandstone Beige and Sahara Beige themed interior while the mid level trim has Sandstone and Java Black theme cabin.


Mahindra has always kept the comfort of passengers their first priority. Scorpio is loaded with a list of comfort and convenience features. Dual AC, The tilt power steering to control this powerful vehicle smoothly, Power windows with The Central bazel console is very futuristic yet classy.

Safari Storme comes with a list of factory fitted features like  10 AC vent with roof mounted separate blower for rear passengers, an Alpine music system with iPod and USB connectivity is mounted in the dashboard, parcel tray, cup holder and power windows.

Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Safari Storme are the two safest SUV in the market they both are equipped with all the new age safety features. Door Ajar Warning, ABS (Anti Lock Braking System). Front and rear seatbelts with Dual Airbags. Standard convenience features like central locking and child lock with engine Immobilizer is also given.


Mahindra Scorpio is available in variety of colours like Fiery Black, Diamond White, Java Brown and Rocky Beige. Safari Storme is featured in Urban Bronze, Pearl Champagne, Sardinia Red, Arctic White and Astern Black colours.


Mahindra Scorpio is priced at 7.9-12.5 lakhs while Safari Storme is priced at 10.2-14.1 lakhs


Tata Safari Storme offers a more powerful engine than Scorpio but it is also more expensive on the other hand Mahindra Scorpio has best in class interior and features Safari Storme has four wheel drive best suited for Off- Driving which is absent in base trim of Scorpio.
